We are in the slow and possibly long process of re-doing our office and in a very feeble attempt to go through my bins of craft items, I got an idea to make something with the girls. Flash cards!
Large index cards, colorful foam paper cut into shapes, markers and glue and we had ourselves a super easy flashcard making craft this morning. Girls can do this one together too! Sofia is eager to learn to spell and read and Olivia needs practice with her shapes and colors. Win-Win!
Sofia and I took turns writing the color of the shape at the top of the card and Olivia picked out the corresponding marker to draw a picture or write her name in the space below. The girls then took them into the other room and laid them all over the floor and played together really nicely for about 20 minutes!
When they were spread out on the floor they took turns pointing to a card, saying the color and shape and then Sofia would spell out the color. Then they arranged the cards by color and then again by shape.
Simple, cheap, and a learning activity.
