How big is Sofia? So big!

Tonight we had Sofia's one year appointment and Dr. Bullock (BEST DOCTOR EVER) was very happy with her progress.

Just to show you how much our little princess has grown -
Newborn Stats:
Weight: 6 pounds 14 ounces
Height: 18 inches long

1 year Stats:
Weight: 23 pounds
Height: 33 inches long (I think we have a volleyball player in our midst)

Besides being weighed and measured, she had her TB and Chicken Pox shots this evening. I thought we also had to get her MMR vaccines but Dr. B doesn't schedule those until 15 months and since we will be leaving for Italy around that time, we are able to go the following month, when she turns 16 months old.

There's been a lot of talk in the media recently about the children vaccinations and the possible link to autism and it's definitely made us a little nervous. How could it not, right? As a parent there are a million things out there that could harm your precious one that going to the doctor's should be the least of our worries. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing for certain if exposing Sofia to the cultures in her vaccinations will trigger something negative whether it be the fever, a bad rash or autism. All we can do is pray and trust in our decisions as parents and know that whatever happens, happens for a reason.

Our big girl

  2. Lisa,

All the talk about autism and vaccinations has made me think as well. Especially as I took Nate in for his first round of shots. Would my actions rob me of this beautiful little personality that is beginning to emerge? But in the end I think that it is better that he be protected from the diseases that have killed so many children throughout the years.
