Per an advent calendar activity, Olivia and I made peppermint bark one morning last week. Needless to say, her favorite part, aside from eating the chocolate before we melted it, was crushing the candy canes up. I added an extra step to the very simple directions in making any kind of bark and that was adding a few drops of peppermint extract to the white chocolate after we had melted it. No one is a huge fan of the big chunky pieces of peppermint in the bark so we tried to crush them as small as possible but I found adding a few drops to the mix helped with the flavor too.
