Most towns in Italy have a villa (a park) or piazza (square) that is the meeting-up point for everyone. The villa (pronounced vee-la) in Mesagne is a large park with trees, benches, a playground for children and a beautiful stone fountain in it's center. Our villa is surrounded by clothing shops showcasing the newest fashion, pizzerias that you can smell from blocks away, and gelaterias boasting some 20-30 different flavors of gelato. Most nights the villa gets very crowded about 9pm with middle and high school aged kids hanging out with friends, young lovers strolling hand in hand, families hoping their children burn off some energy and the older generations taking it all in.
We took Sofia several times to the villa and each time was more fun then the last. During the day there isn't as much confusion in the playground and she can take her time on the swings, which by now, I'm sure you all know she loves.
"Weeeeee" - Sofia loves the swings!
