Pre-school here she comes!

My little lovebug starts pre-school in less than 2 weeks! I can't believe we're already at this point. My baby is getting so big. sniff, sniff

We chose a school nearby, so close we could walk there - how fantastic is that?! Probably more likely that we will walk there to pick up Sofia rather than dropping her off in the morning since I'm not certain how the mornings are going to go getting all three of us ready to get out of the door. Yes, I know other people do it all the time but I'm going to have to figure out a system that works for us. So, I'm going to "practice" next week a couple of days and actually go to the school with the girls to show Sofia what we'll do.

Most of the time when we're talking about school, she's really excited and says "I can't wait!" Other times she says "Mommy, you're going to be with me at school." Which then breaks my heart. I think she will be fine after the first day or so. I'm going to be the one twiddling my fingers not knowing how to occupy that 2.5 hours of time. Oh wait, Olivia will be with me too.

Yesterday she received a letter in the mail from her teachers. We've read it at least 10 times already. There's mention of "play-dough" in the letter and she gave me a huge smile.

This morning I thought it would be fun to make a calendar with Sofia and show her how we're going to use it. Together we circled the days she would be at school in bright fun colors. Each night we'll cross off that day with a big "X" so she can see how many more days we have until school starts and until her next day of school. Naturally we added ladybugs to the calendar and she was all smiles.

She's already asked me twice if we can cross off today.

Just so much to look forward to with the start of school for my little girl. Having a teacher, meeting her fellow classmates, learning, playing and all this while mommy isn't around. Makes me a little sad that I'm going to be missing that part of her day from now on. 3 and a half years with this little beauty right by my side has been such a blessing. I know this is all part of life and growing up, but I don't want to grow up. I want to watch Peep and the Big Wide World with both of my girls in the morning!

  2. it isn't easy letting go ... but hopefully they know ... no matter what they may do ... they can always count on you.
