Oh, happy day!
You would have thought it was 70 degrees and flip-flop-wearing-weather with how I woke up this morning. I was beyond excited that it was going to be a whopping 44 degrees today and determined to get the girls out for some fresh air. It was chilly, but I bundled them up and we went for a short stroll around our neighborhood this morning. Sofia was in her prime. Anytime she gets to be outside for longer than it takes to get from the car to the house and vice versa, she is a happy little girl. Well, she's a happy little girl most of the time, but being outside makes her ESPECIALLY happy.
Sofia collected some pine cones, picked the budding crocus in our front yard and soaked in the sunshine. Not warm sunshine, but still sunshine. Olivia sat happily in her stroller while she watched her sister. I am sure she can not wait to be up and about walking by her side and racing to collect more flowers, pine cones or rocks than her big sister.
Later, while Olivia napped, Sofia and I colored. Coloring has got to be, by far, one of the most relaxing activities. We colored Bert and Ernie (Sofia's favorites these days) and Big Bird and Grover. She switched between using markers and crayons and just had a great time. I had a great time too. Mostly, just from watching her enjoy herself so much at something so simple. Ahh, to be a kid again...
On a little "ME" note, I got new glasses. I am certain that Anthony would like for me to point out that I have had them since August and just began wearing them. What can I say, I was attached to my old glasses. That I had had since college! It was definitely time for a new pair and while it took me 6 months to get them out of their brand-spanking-new case, I did it and am now wearing them almost everyday. Not one person has commented on them though. I thought they were pretty different from what I had been wearing, but maybe no one looks at me. Sofia and Olivia are pretty darn cute so I can see where they would get all the attention. Nonetheless, I have new specs and I'm getting used to them.
I just wanted to share a picture of this fine piece of chocolate...YUM! It's become a little ritual of mine that once the girls settle down for a nap in the afternoon, I settle down with a piece (or two) of chocolate and usually a magazine or to flip through the internet. It's the best. The house is quiet and the rich smell of dark chocolate takes over. I highly recommend trying these out - they are SO good!
Ok, I'm working at the restaurant tonight which means it's time for me to get dressed. Only Sofia and Olivia appreciate seeing me in my sweats and hair tied back! Buon Weekend!
