The bare-wall-project

So, it's been awhile since our last big project, the kitchen remodel, and I'm starting to get a little antsy. Not that I have a ton of free time and looking for things to fill it up, but just a couple little things to work on around the home. Two small-ish summer projects include re-painting the main floor bathroom, which also means redecorating in there too and then getting Sofia's room ready for her little roommate, Olivia, to move in at the end of the summer. Not really big things but still something to think about.

The biggest thing for me is taking time to plan something out. I took time to research our kitchen remodel making sure things were the way we wanted, that we got the best prices and that the stuff we didn't like about our old kitchen were resolved in the new kitchen. All that planning took time for me but we are so happy with the outcome so it was worth it. But since the kitchen was finished, I've left some walls bare. The paint looked so nice and I didn't want to muck it up right away with a ton of clutter and holes, but now I'm ready to do just that. But not too much.

I need some ideas for 3 walls in the kitchen. Above is the picture of the first wall I'm going to tackle. My initial thought was a daily system, similar to this one at Pottery Barn. I love the way it looks, all organized and neat-ish and I feel like I could piece it together on my own and not have to get the whole thing from there. My other idea was a single piece of framed art. Normal, nothing crazy there but now it would involve a ton of time trying to find the piece I want. My third idea is a picture collage. Ikea has great frames at really affordable prices and while we already have a ton of pictures around the house, what's a few more? Especially in an area as prominent as the kitchen. AND especially if it's these faces were looking at...

Decisions, decisions. Any insight, prior bare-wall knowledge, tips and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.

  1. While I love the idea of a picture collage, I think the daily system thing is awesome. I am sure I'd clutter it right up and it wouldn't look good for long, but I can so see that in your house actually staying neat :)

  2. Well, I'm sure this will come as no surprise to you: I like the the daily system idea. The other ideas are great as well, but of course I'm going to choose the option that involves any sort of list, or organization system! And what a perfect place for that to be!
